Voices for the Tamaraw: TCP Communication Plan Inception Workshop

The TCP Communication Plan Inception Workshop was participated in by the Thriving Together with Tamaraw Consortium to support the development of a unified, impactful strategy to raise awareness and inspire action for Tamaraw conservation. Held at Magsaysay Hillside Resort in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro, the two-day event was organized by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources – Tamaraw Conservation Program (DENR–TCP).

Bringing together a diverse group of stakeholders including NGOs, local community representatives, academic institutions, and other conservation partners—the workshop focused on one shared goal: to craft a comprehensive communication plan that would amplify the call to protect the critically endangered tamaraw and its fragile habitat in Mindoro.

The sessions encouraged active participation and teamwork, leading to key results. Participants agreed on the need to work together to boost support for Tamaraw conservation. They planned to create educational materials, launch community activities, and partner with the media. They also came up with creative ideas like using social media and local stories to make the message more engaging and relatable.

The event also served as a reminder of the critical role of Tamaraw Rangers, whose efforts on the ground are vital to protecting the species. Participants left with a renewed sense of purpose and a shared commitment to further strengthening communications, education, and advocacy.

Thriving Together with Tamaraw remains committed to ensuring that the Tamaraw’s story is not only told—but heard, understood, and acted upon.
