Diego is a former ranger at Mts. Iglit Baco Natural Park, where he regularly joined patrols and facility maintenance activities, following in the footsteps of his father, an Indigenous ranger. He now serves as a Field Technical Officer, supporting field operations across the tamaraw landscape.
His work focuses on community engagement, Indigenous ranger support, and intelligence gathering. Diego mainly supports the consortium’s protection and law enforcement activities, with a strong emphasis on guiding and strengthening Indigenous initiatives to safeguard ancestral domains and wildlife. He also conducts daily intelligence gathering by documenting threats and observed wildlife crime infractions.
As a Taobuid, Diego is deeply motivated by the responsibility to protect ancestral lands and conserve natural resources for future generations. He finds meaning in collecting information in the field and listening to stories that reflect indigenous traditions and culture. For him, protecting ancestral land means preserving the indigenous way of life.
