D'ABOVILLE Foundation and Demo Farm, Inc. (DAF)

The D’ABOVILLE Foundation has been Re:wild’s main local partner in delivering the Darwin Initiative project “Creating a Sustainable Landscape for the Taobuid and the Tamaraw.” With over 10 years of experience in Mindoro, DAF has earned the trust and respect of the Taobuid indigenous communities, government agencies, and NGOs alike.

As a key partner in the Thriving Together with Tamaraw consortium, DAF plays a leading role in promoting community engagement and sustainable development. The team brings deep knowledge and strong relationships with local stakeholders, including the Taobuid communities, to ensure conservation efforts are culturally appropriate and socially inclusive.

DAF pioneered the biocultural approach used in the project, which is now being scaled up under the Darwin Extra. They will lead the implementation of Outputs 2 (research), 4 (threat reduction), and 5 (biocultural initiatives), focusing on site-based work with indigenous groups, local government units, and DENR.

With support from the Darwin Initiative, DAF has also contributed significantly to developing effective habitat management strategies in Mounts Iglit-Baco Natural Park. Their work continues to be instrumental in uniting diverse sectors to protect Mindoro’s tamaraw landscapes and secure a sustainable future for both nature and people.
