Chair, IUCN SSC Asian Wild Cattle Specialist Group and TCMAP Review and Feasibility Study Lead (Consultant)
Dr. James brings extensive species conservation experience across Southeast Asia, with a focus on large mammals, species action planning, and collaborative conservation work across government and zoo sectors. He served as lead for the development of the TCMAP in 2018 and continues to support its review, while also leading the feasibility study assessing additional conservation actions for the tamaraw.
In his role, Dr. James supports diverse groups in sharing perspectives and working toward common goals that benefit species conservation. He believes that successful conservation depends on making full use of available resources through strong collaboration across teams.
He enjoys the calm of nature for the clarity it brings in solving complex challenges and is guided by a simple principle: empathy and kindness to all.
