Fernando is a field ecologist with extensive experience in designing, coordinating, and implementing biodiversity assessments and habitat monitoring programs. He specializes in ecological research, spatial analysis, and providing technical GIS mapping support. In his role as Senior Program Research Advisor, he contributes to the conceptualization, implementation, and post-analysis of ecological research while also supporting operational management of the project.
Driven by the need to understand Mindoro’s rich but under-documented biodiversity, Fernando focuses on gathering the critical data necessary for effective species and habitat conservation. Though he encounters challenges—like navigating the dense, unforgiving bamboo forests that test both balance and patience—he approaches fieldwork with resilience and a grounded philosophy: “You can only manage your own actions.”
